Affordable Housing
The Council has recognised that housing affordability is a serious issue for the economic and social well-being of the District.
The Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust has been formed to deliver affordable housing to the Queenstown Lakes District.
HOPE (Housing Our People in our Environment) Strategy
The blueprint for the Council's work on affordable housing is the Housing our People in our Environment Strategy, adopted in 2005. The HOPE Strategy was then updated in 2007 to more clearly define an overall goal and to include policy on issues like design, eligibility and legal mechanisms to secure affordable housing in the future.
