Event Services

We have a wide variety of event services available for use including event ticketing, hire equipment and advertising banner rental. We can also give you advice on the permits you may need to run your event and provide you with recommendations for catering, photography, advertising and more. 

Event Permits

Depending on the type of event you’re having, you may require a permit or licence for liquor, fire, signs, amusement devices, gaming and hazardous substances. If you have an enquiry regarding any of these you can contact the Events Office on 03 441 0499 or email events@qldc.govt.nz.
 

Ticketing Services

We partner with Eventfinda to ensure events are delivered at the highest standard and that customer satisfaction is achieved. Eventfinda is the leading ticketing company of choice for national and international promoters, and offers customers easy-access ticketing, a respected brand and a secure and trusted way to experience live entertainment. Eventfinda provides an accessible ticket booking service to nation-wide events via internet, telephone, mobile phone and counter point of sale.
 

Equipment Hire

Banners and Flags

We manage a range of banner and event signage opportunities within the Lakes District using the street lighting infrastructure and purpose built Council controlled structures for the promotion of events. Bookings are essential for all flag and banner sites. Our sites include:

Our experienced events team is accomplished at organising and delivering major public and private events at our venues and facilities. Whether you’re organising regional, national or international sporting events, concerts, trade shows, exhibitions or gala dinners our team would be happy to provide you with all the information you'll need.

Concerts & Shows

If you're looking to bring a concert or show to Queenstown, Arrowtown or Wanaka, then look no further than one of our venues. We manage some of the most popular venues in the region, whether it's a local theatre performance, an indoor concert for 3,500 or an outdoor music festival for tens of thousands. We can help steer you in the right direction with everything you need from ticketing services to top notch local photographers and writers that will help you get the word out to the locals. We can also provide you with advice on marketing your event and help advertise your event through our own marketing channels. Examples of previous events are Flight of the Conchords, Michael Hill International Violin Competition, Fat Freddy’s Drop and The Black Seeds. 

Conference & Incentive

With its stunning scenery and impressive range of activities, the Southern Lakes is the ideal location for your next conference or incentive event. We have a variety of venues from intimate to expansive and your delegates and guests will delight in everything this region has to offer from adrenaline activities to a vast array of dining and relaxation options. The ANZA Workshop (Australia New Zealand Education Agents), Principals Conference and New Zealand Dairy Awards recently took place at the Queenstown Events Centre around 600 delegates in attendance, with the latter including a black tie gala dinner awards function. 

Sporting Events

The hosting of local, national and international sporting events has been in our repertoire for over a decade from international cricket matches, to national rugby events like the Super 15 and Rugby Sevens and the Southern Steel Pre-Season Netball Tournament, where thousands of tickets were sold. Our turf team are specialists in their field, expertly trained with the skills and experience to prepare and maintain our sports fields to the highest level. If you’d like to ensure that your next sporting event is of a world class standard, then talk to our team. Team Training

The Queenstown Events Centre complex offers both national and international sports teams the opportunity to train in a modern, fully equipped sports venue. Just five minutes drive from an international airport and 10 minutes drive from central Queenstown are world class sports fields, indoor courts, indoor aquatic centre and a health and fitness centre, all conveniently located on one site.

Offering all inclusive sports training packages, we will ensure your team makes the most of their valuable training time. A streamlined service that can be tailored to suit your teams specific training needs, will see your players enjoying the convenience of an internationally recognised indoor, outdoor and aquatic training facility easily adaptable for your team's needs and those determined by the weather.

Trade Shows

Our events team is experienced in assisting with the delivery of regional, national and international trade shows and exhibitions from intimate to expansive productions and everything in between. Examples of previous trade shows include Queenstown Auto Extravaganza, and Queenstown Home Shows which attracts up to 6,000 people over three days each year. Our largest trade shows include TRENZ 2011 and 2012 (Tourism Industry Rendezvous New Zealand) with 1,200 delegates in attendance.
