What is environmental health?
Environmental health means protecting and promoting public health and to reduce any conditions that could be offensive or harmful to the health of the community. 

How is environmental health managed?
Lakes Environmental manage environmental health on behalf of the community.  There are environmental health officers employed to look after the following: 
•  Inspection of retail food premises, camping grounds, hairdressers and saleyards.
•  Investigation of complaints relating to noise, insanitary dwellings, odour, vermin, sewage.
•  Advice about water quality, sewage disposal, food safety, pool water quality.
•  Enforcement of the Liquor (control of liquor and vehicles in public places) Bylaw 2003 and the Hawkers, Intinerant Traders and Mobile or Travelling Shops Bylaw. 
•  Liquor licensing.
•  Hazardous substances.
