Tips for a top class first aid kit

Knowing first aid and having access to a full first aid kit could be the difference between life and death in an emergency.

You can buy a good first aid kit ready made.  But if you want to make your own – St John recommends that the following items be included as a minimum:
•  Triangular bandages x 2
•  Roller bandages.  1 x 50mm and 1 x 75mm
•  Sterile gauze 1 x 7.5cm by 7.5cm
•  Adhesive wound dressing – 1 strip 6cm wide by 1 metre long.
•  1 x packet of sticking plasters
•  1 x 25mm roll of hypoallergenic adhesive tape
•  Sterile non-adhesive pads.  2 x small and 3 x large.
•  Sterile eye pad
•  Eye wash container
•  Eye wash solution – 1 x 30 ml of Saline Steritube
•  Antiseptic solution – 4 x 30 ml of Chlorhexidine Steritube
•  1 x card of safety pins
•  1 x pair of scissors
•  1 x pair of tweezers
•  2 x pairs of disposable gloves.
•  Accident register and pencil
•  First aid manual
•  Contact details for local emergency agencies.
