The current economic climate has seen the development of Council-owned freehold land on Man Street (central Queenstown) put on hold.
Background
The proposed development of 3.96ha of Council-owned freehold land was approved in 2004. The project progressed with an expressions of interest process and in October 2008, the Council confirmed a preferred participant.
Unfortunately the economic crises took over and the company was not able to provide the required financial convenants, causing the Council to terminate the preferred participant agreement.
The Council has accepted that it could be at least another year or so until market conditions warrant the remarketing of the property.
However, any parties with the capacity to deliver the current design brief is welcome to contact the Council to discuss it further.
