One Mile Powerhouse

A five minute walk alongside One Mile Creek will bring you to the One Mile Power House.

Glenorchy Road, Queenstown.

History / Description

Originally completed in 1924, the powerhouse was lovingly restored by the One Mile Power House Restoration Trust and reopened as a static display in 2005.

The One Mile also provides access to the many walking and mountain biking tracks that traverse the hills above Queenstown.

The One Mile Creek track climbs through beech and douglas fir forest to the old intake dam that once supplied the power house. From the dam the track joins the Skyline Gondola service road and ends at the Skyline building.

Access to popular mountain bike and walking tracks.  Toilets are nearby.

No camping and dogs must be under control at all times.
