District Plan Review - Proposed District Plan

 

Stage 2 of the Proposed District Plan is now open for consultation and submissions close on 23 February 2018. This is made up of six topics: Transport, Earthworks, Signs, Visitor Accommodation, Wakatipu Basin Land-use and Open Space and Recreation.

Council formally commenced a review of the District Plan in April 2014, with a multi stage approach beginning with those areas most urgently requiring attention and delivering most immediate benefit to ratepayers contained in Stage 1. The review set out to provide a more accessible and transparent plan that provides more certainty to property owners and a clear strategic direction for the District as well as additional scope for intensification in suitable locations.

Stage 1 of the review was notified in August 2015 with a proposed plan containing most the key chapters including the residential, rural and commercial zones. Matters raised in submissions have been considered at a series of 14 hearings. Read details of the individual Hearings for Stage 1 of the Proposed District Plan here

Decisions on the matters heard to date are expected to be issued in the 1st quarter of 2018.
