Draft Signage Bylaw Last Call

Only a few days remain for the community to have its say over the proposed draft Signage Bylaw.

"We would value feedback from a wide sector of the community. It really is something that potentially affects all of us and I recommend people take five minutes to look at the bylaw and make a comment," Queenstown Lakes District Council strategy manager Vicki Jones said.

The bylaw is available at Council offices at Queenstown and Wanaka or can be viewed on the Council website

Making a submission is an easy process with forms available at the Council or downloadable from the website.

"We anticipate there will be a range of views in relation to this bylaw ranging from people who feel the bylaw is not strict enough, to those who feel it is too strict. It's important that we hear from those people who are supportive of this bylaw as well as those who oppose the stricter rules," Ms Jones said.

The submission period was extended to December 23 after public information sessions held in October gave feedback that more time was needed to fully consider the implications of the draft.

The Council would be asked at today's (Tuesday) full Council meeting to appoint three Councillors to sit on the hearing panel.

The recommendation also included that separate hearings be held in Wanaka and Queenstown.
