Comment Period Extended on Albert Town Plan Change
"Strong public interest has led to a revised deadline for comments on a proposed Plan Change for Albert Town", Queenstown Lakes District Council senior policy analyst Alyson Schuler said.
The council held a public open day at the Albert Town Tavern at the weekend which was attended by 40 people, and sent copies of the discussion document to 600 ratepayers.
"We have since heard from more people who did not receive enough notice to attend the meeting but had a strong interest in the proposal", Ms Schuler said.
On that basis the council had decided to extend the timeframe for comments from April 28 to 15 May to capture all feedback.
The proposed Plan Change would allow smaller residential sections to be developed in Albert Town. The aim of the Plan Change was to provide more housing opportunities for people in the wider Wanaka, area including affordable housing.
The land that was the subject of the Plan Change was known as "Riverside Stage 6" and was owned by the Infinity Investments Group. The site currently had resource consent for the development of 65 rural residential sections that were approximately 4000 square metres or greater in size.
The discussion document could be obtained from the Wanaka and Queenstown council offices and was available on the council website www.qldc.govt.nz under plan changes.
