Road Update Saturday
Chains must be fitted if travelling over the Crown Range between Queenstown and Wanaka. The road is open but an alternative route via the Kawarau Gorge/Luggate can be taken. All other roads are clear but an overnight clearance could leave roads icy on Sunday morning. Care should be taken.

Glenorchy Road reopened
The Glenorchy Road was reopened today (Sunday) at 1.30pm.
Stability testing was successful and machinery has been removed from the slip site.
The road is badly potholed so please take extreme care. Repair work on the road will continue over the next few weeks.

Glenorchy Road update - 5:30pm
The Glenorchy Road will reopen at 6pm. The road will be closed again from 9am-12 noon tomorrow (Sunday) so that further stability testing can take place.

Glenorchy Road update - 3:30pm
The Glenorchy Road will remain closed until at least 6pm tonight while stability testing of the slip face takes place.
Geotechnical engineers have been assessing the slip site during the day and are now testing its stability before reopening the road.
A further update will be available at 5.30pm.

Further assessment of the slip site will be undertaken this morning to establish if a remaining ledge of rock is now stable.
