Wanaka Commercial Recycling options

Option 1

Wanaka Wastebusters run a business collection service.  Wanaka Wastebusters are able to collect the following recyclable and re-useable materials:

  • Cardboard and paper.
  • Plastics 1-7.
  • Glass.
  • Tins and cans.
  • Construction and Demolition materials such as gib board, metals, surplus materials, fixtures and fittings and much more.

Option 2

The Wanaka Green Waste site, run by Wanaka Green Waste & Landscape Supplies is located next to Wanaka Wastebusters and the Wanaka Transfer Station.

All green waste including tree branches, small tree trunks, grass clippings and gib-board is accepted. 

Mulch, compost and soil conditioning products are available for sale.

Option 3

Wanaka Landfill Limited

Location: Adjacent to the greenwaste site area

Wanaka Landfill takes all cleanfill, i.e. gravel, bricks, concrete. Please download the full list(PDF, 10KB) for more information.

Wakatipu Commercial Recycling options

Commercial Recycling in the CBD is delivered as a direct service to businesses 7 days a week. Please contact the contractor directly. In general recycle bins are out by 9am. There are two options for business recycling in the Wakatipu:

Option 1

Drop your recyclables to the Wakatipu Recycling Centre on a pre-arranged basis. The cost is $40 per tonne.  Acceptable materials include:

  • Plastics 1-7.  Washed, not squashed and lids off.
  • Steel tins and aluminium cans.  Washed.
  • Clean aluminium foil.
  • Glass bottles and jars.  Washed with the lids off.
  • Clean paper and cardboard.  For example office paper, magazines, newspaper, egg cartons, cereal boxes, envelopes.

Option 2

Smart Environmental run a business collection service in the Wakatipu; they are able to collect the following recyclable materials:

  • Plastics 1-7.  Washed, not squashed and lids off.
  • Steel tins and aluminium cans.  Washed.
  • Clean aluminium foil.
  • Glass bottles and jars.  Washed with the lids off.
  • Clean paper and cardboard.  For example office paper, magazines, newspaper, egg cartons, cereal boxes, envelopes.
