Toilets and Trade Waste
When it comes to running an event, it's important to have all bases covered. That includes factoring into your planning the need for toilet facilities, management of storage and containment of hazardous substances, and having the correct response ready for any spill or leak.
As a result, we've attached information for both toilets and trade waste below, along with an Event Toilet Calculator QLDC is trialing from 1 March 2018 to 28 February 2019. Any feedback about the trial can be directed to Janine Cole, QLDC's Environmental Health Officer. Simply email Janine.Cole@qldc.govt.nz
To help, PSAI's Guide to Portable Restroom Excellence offers a concise overview of what toilet facilities organisers should be looking to provide for an event, regardless of its size or purpose.
It also pays to note hand washing facilities or an antimicrobial hand rub is required. Hand sanitation plays an important part in preventing the spread of on-site infections.
Also note that your Portaloo supplier must supply a drum/bin for the disposal of waste water (grey water) produced by food vendors on site. All waste water produced must be removed by the septic tank operator and disposed of at an approved wastewater treatment site. Should disposal of grey water to land be considered the event organiser will have to contact ORC for permission of such an activity.
For hazardous liquids, storage of it and information on how to respond to any spills, check your compliant with HSNO.
All fats, oils and grease must be recycled.
