Eighty Five Trees Planted on Ruby Island
- Sep 17, 2007
Eighty-five trees were planted on Ruby Island on Sunday by 33 volunteers on a working bee organised as part of Wanakafest and Keep New Zealand Beautiful week. Sustainable Wanaka in conjunction with the Ruby Island Management committee organised the planting to help beautify the island.
Plants were kindly donated by Mitre 10 and transfers to the island were provided by Lakeland Adventures.
Many hands make light work - so weeding, digging holes, planting and watering was completed in record time before everyone enjoyed a BBQ followed by a relax in the sun enjoying the peaceful setting on the island.
Ruby Island on Lake Wanaka is managed by the Ruby Island Management Committee. They have regular working bees to maintain the island for all to enjoy.
