July will mark a change to Queenstown Lakes District Council services in Queenstown and Wanaka.

“On Monday (1 July) our new Council structure will take effect, and Lakes Environmental and Lakes Leisure will cease operation. Our goal is that the changes are seamless,” QLDC chief executive Adam Feeley said.

All facilities would continue to open and all services would continue to operate.

“However, we are endeavouring to make things more convenient. During July we are moving to offer full services at our two service centres in Gorge Road, Queenstown and Ardmore Street, Wanaka.” he said.

From mid-July Council staff would gradually transition from multiple offices at Queenstown to either the Gorge Road and Shotover Street offices, with an eventual saving of $329k per annum and an upgrade of the Queenstown Customer Service space undertaken.

“We aim to meet customer needs in one location. The only exception to that will be more detailed consenting matters are to be dealt with by way of appointment, which is already generally the case,” Mr Feeley said.

Services available at libraries, particularly on Saturday mornings, will be gradually enhanced.

In terms of contact there will be two QLDC Council numbers, one for Wanaka 03 4430024 and one for Queenstown 03 4410499 and one general enquiry email address services@qldc.govt.nz

“We are also pushing to have a greater volume of Council services transacted online, and from today all Council services, including events, libraries, regulatory and consenting and sport and leisure can all be accessed via the home page of www.qldc.govt.nz including online payments,” he said.

In anticipation of Monday’s milestone, signage changes were already underway on buildings and fleet vehicles.
