Suffolk Street consultation
Queenstown Lakes District Council is continuing to seek more feedback from the community on the proposed Suffolk Street development in Arrowtown.
Queenstown Lakes District Council general manager community services Paul Wilson says the Community Housing Trust is seeking to build a small residential development on land sited at 11-21 Suffolk Street.
The proposal would see the removal of the old cabins currently on site and the building of 10 architecturally designed homes, 8 of which would be rented to the Community Housing Trust’s eligible households with the other two reserved for senior citizens.
All the dwellings would remain as rental properties and would be held in perpetuity by the Trust on behalf of the community. The expectation would be that the properties would become part of the Trust’s Rentsaver programme, being used by young families as a stepping stone towards their first house in the district.
“More public drop-in sessions where people can find out about what is proposed and get their questions answered are going to be held over the next week,” Mr Wilson said.
People can submit their feedback at the drop-in sessions or do it online at www.qldc.govt.nz.
More information and drawings of the proposed development are available on the Community Housing Trust’s website www.qlcht.org.nz
