Road Closures due to extreme weather conditions
- Jan 23, 2019
Update 10.30am, 24 January 2019:
Glenorchy Road is now open. There are speed restrictions in place to please take extra care. This afternoon there will be stop/go operating on some stretches of the road to allow crews to safety work on powerlines. Please allow extra time for your journey.
Update 8am, 24 January 2019:
Please see below for the latest update on road conditions in the Queenstown Lakes District:
Glenorchy Road remains closed this morning. We have a crew out there sweeping the road and will provide an update by 9am.
Speargrass Flat Road between Hunter and Domain Road is likely to remain closed through the day. It was simply too dangerous for crews to work there yesterday but they have been onsite since 6am working on clearing it.
Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Road is clear and open.
Thanks for your patience as we deal with the aftermath of some pretty scary conditions.
There are many roads affected throughout the district and we are working hard to have the affected roads clear of debris as soon as possible. Please take care.
