Council CE Position To Be Advertised

Sep 24, 2009

Under the Local Government Act the Queenstown Lakes District Council is required to advertise the position of Chief Executive, QLDC Mayor Clive Geddes said.

“The Chief Executive’s contract expires in February 2010. When a CE contract comes to an end, the Council has no choice but to undertake a recruitment process,” he said.

Although a Local Government CE had no right or expectation of reappointment, that individual could choose to apply for the role.

“There is a clear process which involves this Council appointing a recruitment advisor, undertaking a review of the contract and performance plan and agreeing on the key competencies required for the position,” Mr Geddes said.

Brannigans Human Capital had been appointed to run the recruitment process and the position would be advertised for the first time this weekend.

“We hope to be in a position to make an offer to the preferred candidate by the end of November,’ Mr Geddes said.
