Current precautionary warnings in place:

  • Mt Roy (between Stoney Creek and Waterfall Creek)

Mt Roy between Stoney Creek and Waterfall Creek was identified as ‘at risk’ during an inspection by ORC Natural Hazards staff. The recent fire has culminated in a large and potentially destabilised area of ash debris and loose soil. With MetService issuing a Severe Weather Watch for Heavy Rain across Otago from 3.00am Thursday 1 February -- 7.00am Friday 2 February, ORC’s initial assessment of the situation suggests the area is potentially at risk of run-off from the fire-affected area. For more details, head here. Further updates will be given via ORC and QLDC social media channels if necessary.
