Why did people complete the Quality of Life survey?

It was a chance for people to really have a say on some of the hot topics.  With this information, it means we now know what the community thinks and feels about these issues and will enable us to work with our partners to do something about them. 

Didn't QLDC just do a residents survey?

Yes. The annual Resident and Ratepayer Satisfaction Survey was recently completed and we're grateful to those who took part. 

This year is the last time we will run the satisfaction survey. Going forward the Quality of Life Survey will allow us to explore broader social themes as well as satisfaction with services.   

The reason we ran both this year is because we needed the Satisfaction Survey results to inform our Annual Report, and also the Quality of Life Survey (QoL) results to inform our Annual Plan.  

Who took part in the QoL survey? 

All residents and ratepayers (over 18) were welcome and encouraged to take the survey.

Were responses anonymous?

All responses were completely anonymous.  

When did the QoL survey run?

The survey ran from 28 September until 26 October 2018.

What will be done with the QoL results? 

The data we collect will be available to everyone, to use in a way that benefits and supports the needs of the community.

What's the difference between 'community' and 'neighbourhood'?

Throughout the survey we referred to neighbourhood and community. 

  • Neighbourhood means your physical location
  • Community means the people you interact with.   
  • We also asked respondents to think about the district as a whole.

The survey was conducted by an independent company, Versus Research, on QLDC's behalf.
