There's something for every age and level of fitness.
AquaMix, AquaFit and Aqua Jogging are run as group fitness classes, meaning anyone is welcome to attend any time they like - classes are free with your pool entry or membership.
Tri Squad (Alpine Aqualand only) and Aqua Boards are run separately and require additional payment.

Our aquatic fitness classes are available at Alpine Aqualand and Wanaka Recreation Centre pools. They are a great way to have fun and stay active, regardless of your age or swimming ability. A gentle, low impact, full body workout which strengthens muscles and improves your flexibility without needing to bear weight. It's perfect if you're new to exercise, recovering from injury or if you're a 'young at heart' athlete!
AquaFit classes are suitable for all age groups; our AquaFit 60+ classes are tailored especially for active seniors but everyone is welcome, regardless of ability, especially if you don't like early mornings!
All AquaFit classes are 45-minutes long and are FREE with pool entry and $5.oo for our Queenstown Leisurelys members.

Give this more challenging session a go. Led by Elena, it's a step up from AquaFit and, from the feedback we get, AquaMix is harder than it looks!
Because AquaMix is a low impact, full body workout it's ideal for people recovering from injuries or experiencing stressed joints. Please note that it is essential you are capable of swimming in the lap pool.
Take advantage of AquaMix to strengthen your muscles, increase fitness and improve your flexibility.

AquaMix sessions restart in Term 2, 2020

AquaMix sessions are 45-minutes in duration and free with your pool entry. So if you're already a member of Alpine Aqualand or Alpine Health & Fitness, you can come along to AquaMix free of charge. Even better, there's no need to sign up; just come along as and when you please.
We use various equipment at AquaMix and you will be wearing fins during the whole session. Essentially we're swimming lengths; continuously kicking our legs, moving our arms and really strengthening our cores.

We have a lane especially reserved for Aqua Jogging every day of the week at Alpine Aqualand (Queenstown Events Centre) and Wanaka Recreation Centre (subject to pool bookings/closures).
Aqua Jogging is the perfect way to warm down after a gym workout or get a low-impact leg workout (especially if you have any hip, knee or ankle issues). Plus it’s a great social activity to enjoy with friends!
If you want an extra challenge in the water you can create resistance by adding an aqua belt and aqua bars to your workout – you won’t believe how much resistance the water can create!Close
Tri Squad is back at Alpine Aqualand, 6.00am every Tuesday and Thursday.
Tri Squad is aimed at those who enjoy the added motivation of working with a qualified squad coach. Whether you want to increase your fitness or compete in triathlons or multi-sport events, Tri Squad could be perfect for you.
Set in a group environment, Tri Squad is an hour-long session suitable for strong swimmers. The squad is led by one of our experienced coaches to help you build endurance and develop your swim efficiency. We also offer beginner to advanced swim lessons for adults who would like to improve their skills and techniques, or for those who don't feel ready for Tri Squad.
All current Tri Squad members were sent an email in February 2020 about our new payment options. The new prices are designed to help streamline administration of the programme and also bring it in line with recent price increases for swimming at council-managed pools. There have been no previous price increases for Tri Squad since it launched several years ago.
Key changes are that term bookings are no longer available and swimmers will need to ensure their normal pool entry is paid for in addition to the squad membership rates below. This can be done either by holding a swim or gym membership for Alpine Health & Fitness, a multi-visit pre-paid concession card, or casual pool entry each time:
Option 1 Casual Tri Squad entry $10/session + pool entry Option 2 10-visit Tri Squad pass $70 (i.e. $7/session) Option 3 20-visit Tri Squad pass $140 (i.e. $7/session)
NEW CHECK-IN PROCEDURE
Before each Tri Squad session, swimmers will need to follow the steps outlined below:
1. Each swimmer should stop by reception to collect a Tri Squad class tag before their session
2. If you have a multi-visit Tri Squad pass, the reception team will scan your tag which will automatically deduct one visit
3. If you are a non-member paying for a casual pool entry along with a Tri Squad casual session, the reception team will allow access for you through the gate after payment
4. If you are already a pool/gym member or a concession card holder, you will swipe your membership tag to enter the pool (i.e. to cover the cost of casual pool entry)
5. Your coach will collect your class tag before you begin; remember folks - no tag means no session!

Keeping active during pregnancy is important, for you and for your unborn child; it helps to relieve stress, reduce anxiety and release endorphins. But the key is knowing how to exercise safely. That's where we can help.
'You & Me' is our fitness programme designed exclusively for expectant mums. Set in a fun, relaxed and supportive group environment, it's a great opportunity to workout in the water while socialising with others. The sessions are led by our experienced coaches. Aquatic classes are limited to 8 participants.
Times and Dates
The sessions are held Tuesday evenings from 6.45-7.30pm in the lap pool at Alpine Aqualand.
- The next 5-week block begins 28 April, 2020.
NB We need a minimum of six people to sign up for each block so please ask your fellow mums-to-be to come and join you!
