Household Polystyrene

There are two collection points for recycling household Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) packaging in our district.

These include Wastebusters in Wānaka and Mitre 10 Mega in Queenstown, thanks to Expol

The EXPOL Residential Polystyrene Recycling scheme is a trial offering households the opportunity to return retail-packaging waste for reprocessing.

The material collected through both the Wastebusters and Mitre 10 drop off points is processed into a range of new polystyrene products including insulation.

QLDC do not accept Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) for kerbside recycling – so please do not place EPS into your yellow mixed recycling bin.

EXPOL also offer builders a construction EPS recycling service, which is arranged through direct contact with them.
