Councillor John MacDonald
I have been a Queenstown resident for 33 years and I love this special place we call home - our district with its spectacular and varied landscapes, communities and people. I am a second term QLDC Councillor and am driven to make a positive difference. We now have our ‘Beyond 2050 Vision’ and are proactively planning and taking bold actions to achieve a sustainable future for current and future residents. I bring to Council my commercial and governance experience, knowledge of tourism and health and my pragmatic decision-making skills. I am passionate about community, affordable housing, and health service. I chaired the Mayoral Housing Affordability Taskforce in the last term and now chair the Finance Audit and Risk Committee and am Deputy Chair of the Planning and Strategy.
Outside of Council, I am the Independent Chair of the SDHB's Mental Health and Addiction Network Leadership Group and Chair of the South Island Cancer Consumer Group and the Queenstown Community Hub Charitable Trust.
