Jude Battson
Wānaka Community Board member
I have been involved with paid and voluntary work in the Upper Clutha region since 1976. I was elected to the Wānaka Community board in 1998, and became a driving force establishing Wānaka Wastebusters, and participated in various activities supporting schools, clubs and groups and communities. Advocacy, support, and engaging with the community to achieve sensible outcomes is what I am about, with significance given to our environment. It can't speak. It relies on us to realise its sensitivity. In return, we can live with integrity and vitality.
I have raised my family in Makarora, Barn Bay, and Lake Hāwea. I enjoy being a grandma, a motorbike rider, kitesurfer, and marriage celebrant. Being involved in local politics is paramount to who I am.
