We enforce the time restricted parking e.g. P120, from 8am to 9pm. This is to ensure we maintain the turnover of the parking spaces available in the high demand areas i.e. CBD. However, we also patrol outside of these hours for illegal parking such as on broken yellow lines, which cause safety concerns, in addition to periodic patrols for complaints we receive regarding Council's Traffic and Parking Bylaw (PDF, 1.09MB).
Please be aware that unless signage specifies otherwise, national road rules apply. If ever in any doubt, please check the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004.

- Coach Parking Information (2.7MB)
Thousands of visitors flock to the Queenstown Lakes District over the holidays and this always puts pressure on roads and parking. Please be patient on our roads, leave room for cyclists and allow extra time for your journey.
If you’re coming into Queenstown for the day, consider using public transport. We also recommend leaving your vehicle in a long-stay carpark on the edge of the CBD and walking to your destination.
Winter Parking changes (148KB)
To help ease parking over winter we’re changing the 38 highlighted parks on Shotover, Athol and Duke Streets to 15minute parking between the hours of 3-6pm until the end of the ski season. This is a trial to help ensure there are parks free for people picking up and dropping off their ski gear at the end of the day.
