Frankton to Queenstown - Queenstown Town Centre Masterplan
About the project
The aim of these investigations is to make it easier for people and goods to travel between Frankton and Queenstown and into (and around) the Queenstown Town Centre.
The investigations build on the work already done through the Queenstown Town Centre Masterplan.
Progress so far
The Queenstown Transport Business Case has now been endorsed by QLDC, Waka Kotahi and Otago Regional Council.
The business case will lead to the delivery of critical transport infrastructure on State Highway 6 and 6A, including bus lanes on SH6 and bus priority on SH6A. The completion of the business case is a necessary step in unlocking funding for design and delivery.

The Masterplan story
This document tells the story of how we plan to unlock the benefits of transforming the Queenstown Town Centre in four key stages.
Spatial Framework
The purpose of the Queenstown Town Centre Spatial Framework is to present a compelling vision for the future of the town centre of Queenstown that reflects and enhances the Queenstown identity through sound planning, design and place making principles.
The Spatial Framework was adopted on 14 June 2018. It's a very large document so we have split it into sections:
Town Centre Design Guidelines
The Design Guidelines were adopted on 14 June as an appendix to the Spatial Framework.
