An emergency water shutdown is affecting properties along Frankton Road, between Larch Hill and Marina Drive, while contractors are working to fix a burst water main on Frankton Road. Check out our Facebook Page for updates on when the water may be restored.

The boil water that was in place for businesses and properties across Queenstown following a number of confirmed local cases of illness caused by the protozoa, cryptosporidium, has now been lifted as of 8 December 2023.

Baby Memorials

Information regarding baby memorials in both Wānaka and the Whakatipu basin. 


Wānaka Cemetery

A memorial wall is available at the Wānaka Cemetery to enable people mourning the death of a still born, premature baby, or infant to acknowledge their passing.

To make a request for a new memorial plaque, please fill in a Wānaka Baby Memorial Application Form (PDF, 125KB)

Then, return the completed Application Form to:

After we process this application, we will send out a draft plaque proof for the applicant to check prior to manufacturing as well as an invoice. The current cost for a plaque is $30.00. Upon approval by the applicant, the plaque will be made and sent directly to the applicant.

The applicant will need to arrange the fixing of the plaque to the wall via Shirl Rowley.
