A playground upgrade is planned for Peter Fraser Park to renew existing equipment and enhance the playspace for the Hāwea community.
The project aims to provide a safe, engaging, and inclusive playspace that responds to community needs.

Next steps
We’ll now use what the community has told us to help our playground landscape designer develop a concept design for the playground. Once the design is ready, we’ll share it here and with the Lake Hāwea community to make sure we’re heading in the right direction.
Who is completing the work?
Queenstown Lakes District Council has engaged a professional playground designer to develop the playground concept, informed by community feedback.
When will work start?
Construction of a new playground is likely to commence early 2027 and you’ll be able to view updates here as the project progresses.
