What's happening around the district for Parks Week
Parks Week is upon us and QLDC has several events happening across the district.
2023 Parks Week is fast approaching and QLDC has several events happening across the district in celebration of our beautiful whenua (land) thanks to Papatūānuku (mother earth).
6 March - Yoga at Wānaka Station Park
Yoga in nature connects us to the sky, air and the sun's life-giving energy. There’s no better way to celebrate parks week than joining with nature at Wānaka Station Park. All levels welcome.
Next to the carpark, 6.30pm-7.30pm with Keity Garcia.
7 March – Bird Training
Bird watching and monitoring in the Whakatipu. Do you know your kaka from your kea, your tui from your tomtit or your mohua from your morepork? Come along during parks week to learn more.
5.30pm at the DOC visitors centre (50 Stanley Street, Queenstown) followed by QT gardens. https://whakatipuwildlifetrust.org.nz/events/
8 March – Yoga in the Gardens
Yoga in nature connects us to the sky, air and the sun's life-giving energy. There’s no better way to celebrate parks week than joining with nature in the Queenstown Gardens. All levels welcome.
Next to the bowling club, 5.30pm-6.30pm, please RSVP to Samantha.Saccomanno@qldc.govt.nz to secure a yoga mat, otherwise hopefully see you there.
9 March – Summerdaze
We're bringing waterfront games and pop-up libraries to you through Summerdaze. Grab a workmate or get a crew together and challenge others to a game of cornhole, badminton, kubb, spikeball and more! Have a yarn with our friendly library team about free online resources, borrow a book to read in the sun or kick start your summer gardening with the popular seed swap. There’s no better way to spend your time and improve your wellbeing!
Frankton beachfront, 3.00pm-5.00pm.
11 March – Park Run
A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer, or spectate – it's up to you! All levels welcome, we all take part for our own enjoyment. Please come along and join in whatever your pace!
