The District Plan review began in 2015. The Proposed District Plan (PDP) sets out to provide a more accessible and transparent plan that provides more certainty to property owners and a clear strategic direction for the district as well as additional scope for intensification in suitable locations.

Private Plan Change Application - The Hills Resort Zone

Queenstown Lakes District Council formally received an application on November 14th, 2024, requesting a private plan change to the Proposed District Plan’s The Hills Resort Zone (Chapter 47). The Council is currently processing the application as required under the RMA. A decision is yet to be made on the application, and the Council is preparing a request for further information where applicable. Affected parties will be contacted when the application is notified in accordance with the requirements of the Resource Management Act.

The Plan Change request includes amendments to Chapter 47 The Hills Resort, Chapter 25 Earthworks and Chapter 27 Subdivision and Development of the PDP.

Current Status of Application: Queenstown Lakes District Council considering the received Response for Additional Information received on May 15, 2025.
