State Highway 6 reopened to normal traffic following heavy rainfall earlier this week.

Kinloch Road Rainfall Closure 7 Feb 2020

Following the heavy rainfall earlier this week, State Highway 6 reopened to normal traffic yesterday afternoon between Frankton and Kingston onwards to Invercargill. However there are still a number of local roads affected by closures, slips and surface flooding.

For the latest updates on roads in the district, see below:

Mt Aspiring Road: Open to Cameron Flat (swing bridge to Otago Boys high school lodge).  Access to Raspberry Flat hoped to be restored Tuesday (11 Feb).

Glenorchy Road: Repair works complete.

Kinloch Road: Open. Please drive slow as the road remains rough.

Greenstone Road: Open.

Paradise Road: Open as far as Arcadia.  No access to the Dart River (Chinamans bluff).  Work continues.

Routeburn: Road now passable. Extensive work still required though. Essential travel is possible, and vehicles can be recovered from the carpark. The plan is for this road to be fully open by Wednesday morning (12 Feb).

Greenstone Road: Open.

Skippers Road: Open with minor repairs being completed today.

Gibbston Back Road: Open. One area needs to be resealed and this will be completed in the next few weeks. Road users are advised that there will be speed restrictions in place until then.
