A wastewater overflow has entered Lake Whakatipu along part of the Frankton Arm near Goldfield Heights. The issue was resolved within five minutes of the overflow occurring, but warning signage has been erected on the lakefront in the affected area. Water quality testing is underway and signage will be removed once clear results are returned.

Mayor Lewers congratulates Queenstown Airport’s new CEO

Queenstown Lakes District Mayor Glyn Lewers has congratulated Shane O’Hare, recently appointed as Queenstown Airport Corporation’s new Chief Executive Officer. 

“On behalf of QLDC, Queenstown Airport Corporation majority shareholder, I congratulate and extend a warm welcome to Shane on his appointment.”

“Our district has a long tradition of attracting the best talent from around the world, and it’s great to see that continuing. I’m confident Shane’s experience and achievements in travel and aviation around the world will help take Queenstown Airport to new heights as one of our most significant community assets and economic drivers,” said Mayor Lewers.
