Play Pool Sessions and Water Safety Talks
QLDC Swim School presents Play Pool Sessions and Water Safety talks. This is a series of events over the coming months for parents of children 5 years and under.
Quick links
Play Pool Sessions
QLDC Swim School will host baby and toddler play sessions on the first Monday of every month at Alpine Aqualand.
Play pool sessions are all about building water confidence and skills through toddler-led sessions. Instructors are on hand to teach parents holds, tips and tricks, but the activity must be initiated by the toddler.
This helps create a fun and engaging environment for little ones.
All about Play Pool sessions:
Child-led play sessions are great for under 5 year olds
Sessions will be held in Alpine Aqualand's learners pool between 12.00pm and 2.00pm (first Monday of every month)
You can drop-in at any point over the two hours
It's free, just pay pool entry!
No need to book, just turn up!
For more information, please email aqualandswimschool@qldc.govt.nz
Will this be offered at Wānaka Recreation Centre?
We're hoping to bring these sessions to Wānaka, but at this stage it is just on at Alpine Aqualand (Queenstown).
What are the dates for the next play pool sessions?
The next few session dates are:
Monday 13 April 2026
Monday 4 May 2026

Water Safety Talks
Toddler and Baby Water Safety Talks are an initiative by QLDC's Swim School.
These talks are for parents of babies and toddlers. You'll learn how to keep your young ones safe and help them form a bond with water that will last a life time.
The talks will be 11.00am to 12.00pm at the Queenstown Events Centre.
