A 60 year plan to protect Te Kararo Queenstown Gardens

We've recently gathered feedback on a draft Tree Succession Plan for Te Kararo Queenstown Gardens. This plan looks at how we’ll gradually remove aging wilding conifers in the area while introducing plenty of new native and exotic trees and species – all to protect this much-loved community asset for future generations to enjoy.

Keen to ensure this special space is ready to meet the months, years, and decades ahead?

Te Kararo Queenstown Gardens Development Plan

Upgrades to Te Kararo Queenstown Gardens will be made through a multi-stage project to enhance connection to Queenstown's town centre and surrounds and to improve circulation within the grounds. Informal passive recreation qualities of Te Kararo Queenstown Gardens will be retained, with improvements made to public safety and wayfinding through upgrades to lighting, signage and pathways.

Culture, heritage and the place values of Lake Whakatipu and surrounding mountains will be weaved into the design.
