How we promote, protect and improve the health of our community.

Environmental Health Officers are qualified public health professionals who help protect the health and wellbeing of our communities. They hold qualifications recognised under New Zealand’s Environmental Health Officers Qualifications Regulations 1993 and work across a wide range of public health activities, including food safety, drinking water, environmental health, noise control, health-related complaints, and regulatory compliance.

As recognised Food Act Verifiers and Food Safety Officers, Environmental Health Officers help ensure food businesses operate safely and meet the requirements of the Food Act 2014.
