Next steps
We're now using what the community has told us to help our landscape designer develop a concept design for the playground and reserve improvements. Once the proposed design is ready in November 2026, we’ll share it here and with the Fernhill and Sunshine Bay community so everyone can see what's planned.
We're aiming to begin construction in the first half of 2027, following final design and approvals.
Who is completing the work?
Queenstown Lakes District Council has engaged a professional playground designer to develop the playground concept, informed by community feedback.
When will work start?
Construction of a new playground is likely to commence in the first half of 2027 and you’ll be able to view updates here as the project progresses.
