About the project
Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) has employed the services of a professional Landscape Designer to further progress the community design for a new playground at Merton Park, Shotover Country.
Once a design is finalised, QLDC will share the design publicly and release to an open market tender for construction, to ensure competitive pricing.
This playground is a community led project through the Lake Hayes/Shotover Country Community Association (LHSCCA) who have worked alongside local residents to understand the community’s expectations.

QLDC has engaged experienced professional landscape designer, Kamo Marsh Ltd, to develop the community concept plan.

Construction of a new playground is likely to commence mid-way through 2026 and you’ll be able to view updates here as the project progresses.
