Glenorchy Flood Resilience

About the project
We’re in the process of gathering detailed aerial and ground survey information to help inform the design of potential flood mitigation works in Glenorchy, following technical investigations into flood hazards affecting the area.
Once the survey and a preliminary design is complete, we’ll share the proposed works with residents in Glenorchy to gather feedback before starting work on a detailed design.
Aerial and ground survey
The aerial and ground survey of Glenorchy is planned to occur during the week of 16 March 2026 – 20 March 2026.
The exact day and time are weather dependent, and surveyors may be working in the area at various times throughout the working day.
The survey will include:
- Collection of aerial imagery using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV/drone) across the Glenorchy township.
- In some cases, brief access onto private properties to capture ground survey points needed to accurately calibrate the aerial survey.
Future engagement
We plan to undertake community engagement on preliminary designs for potential flood mitigation works once we have a preliminary design in place, and expect this to take place in July 2026.
