QEC Indoor Court Expansion

What we're working on

The project team has completed a couple of project milestones. In summary we have:

•    Sought direction from Council in May 2026. The option of six courts was brought up and the team worked to compare the four and six court project options.

•    Presented the four and six court expansion project options, including a concept design for the four court option, at a Council workshop on 29 September. Received support to continue investigating the four court option with an accelerated delivery programme.

The project team is now developing the business case for the four court option, to present to Council in November 2026.

What's coming next

Following the direction received on 29 September, the project team will present the business case and concept design to Council on 12 November.

The Council will be asked to approve the business case and endorse the concept design. Subject to that decision, the project would then move into procuring the design and build in the New Year.

What is not being worked on

We are currently working on a core scope focused on the indoor courts, with supporting facilities still being worked through.

Everything that sits outside of that scope is not being considered at this stage.

The procurement process to go out for further design and/or construction has not yet commenced.
