Statement

Kia ora, I'm John Bache.

I've recently returned to Aotearoa after 20+ years in Germany, working in international business and communications - helping organisations adapt, and grow in complex times.

I'm committed to backing local entrepreneurs, protecting our environment, improving access to health services - especially mental health support - and ensuring young people have real opportunities to stay and thrive.

I believe in thoughtful, sustainable growth that honours what makes this place special - with community-led decisions at its heart. I'm pragmatic, open-minded, and ready to do the mahi.

I'm also a passionate snowboarder and mountain biker, riding since the late 1980s and advocating for both sports through media and political bodies in the 1990s.

I'd be honoured to serve the Wanaka-Upper Clutha community.
