QLDC manages and maintains a wide range of facilities around the district that provide opportunities to get active and make the most of what this special place has to offer.

  • Wānaka Recreation Centre is the main hub for sport and recreation in the Upper Clutha, located in the bustling Three Parks area  just a quick five-minute drive from the town centre.

    Facilities include:

    • Three-pool aquatic facility - 25m, eight-lane lap pool, 20m learners' pool with separate toddlers' area, and adult hot pool

    • QLDC Swim School - Wānaka

    • Indoor / outdoor court hire

    • Meeting room hire

    • Change rooms & storage lockers.

  • Located just a few hundred metres from the heart of Arrowtown, the pool's LPG boiler means we can now operate with a target water temperature of 27 degrees.

    Every summer we look forward to providing a range of events, inflatables, pool toys and pool parties for the community.

     

    Opening hours

    Arrowtown Memorial Pool is now closed for the summer and will reopen in November 2021. Thanks to all members and customers for a great 2020-21 season!

    Normal seasonal opening hours are Monday-Sunday: 11.00am-6.00pm

    *Early closing at 5.00pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Conveniently located adjacent to Queenstown Events Centre and Queenstown International Airport, Frankton Golf Centre provides residents and visitors with an opportunity to play and learn golf at an affordable and well-maintained facility.

    Frankton Golf Centre is open seven days a week; from 9.00am-7.00pm during summer (6.00pm in winter).

Closures and cancellations

Whenever possible, information about temporary closures and cancellations will be posted below.

For up-to-the-minute news on short-term closures or cancellations, such as the dreaded 'Code Browns' which can close the pools for a few hours, follow QLDC Sport & Recreation on Facebook.

If you are making a special trip it is always worth giving your chosen venue a call before you set out.

  • Wanaka Swim Club annual meet, Sunday 2 May 2021

    Wanaka Swim Club is holding its annual meet on Sunday 2 May which means the lap pool and learners' pool will be closed to the general public from 8.00am (our normal weekend opening time) until 5.30pm.

    The adult hot pool, poolside changing rooms and indoor courts will remain open during this time but the male and female 'dryside' changing rooms and the meeting room will be taken over by the club. All facilities will be fully open from 5.30pm onwards. 

     Thanks for your understanding while we host this awesome event!
